Shiitake does nothing but sleep... or does she?

Story 1

Chika: Riko! You! Good morning! Riko: Good morning, Chika. You're pretty chipper this morning! Shiitake: Woof. You: We're making costumes today. Let's all work hard! Shiitake: Woof! You: Good morning to you too, Shiitake. Riko: Don't get Shiitake worked up, You! You: Worked up? I'm just saying hell. Right, Shiitake? Shiitake: Woof? Riko: That's what I'm talking about! Chika: Oh, right. You're scared of dogs, aren't you, Riko? I'm sorry. I know Shiitake's really big, and could seem intimidating... Riko: No, no, not at all! I know Shiitake wouldn't hurt me or anything. It's just... You: You need to get used to being around dogs. I'm sure Shiitake wants to be your friend, too. You: Shiitake. We'll play with you after we're done making our costumes, all right? Shiitake: Woof... You: Ah, ha, ha, ha! Not interested, huh? Chika: Shiitake just likes taking it easy. Anyways, let's get to work! You: If either of you gets stuck or doesn't understand what to do next, just ask me. Riko, Chika: Right! You: When we're finished with this part, we'll play with Shiitake. Riko: Will Shiitake even want to play with us? Chika: Shiitake sleeps like a log at night, and does nothing during the day. Seeing Shiitake being energetic is a rare sight. Riko: *Giggle* Just likes to chill at home. Chika: But Shiitake's home all day every day. It'd be nice if Shiitake could help us make our costumes, huh? You: Yeah, yeah. Imagine if Shiitake helped make the costumes, then became a member of Aqours! Riko: Oh, my! Riko: All right! It's time for Shiitake's debut! Shiitake: Ruff! Shiitake: Woof! Shiitake: Ruff! Riko: Everyone sing and dance along with Shiitake! Shiitake: Woof! Riko: Ah, ha, ha, ha... Riko: Eek! You: Riko, what's wrong? You look pale, and you're sweating a lot. Riko: Uhh... Oh, I'm sorry! I don't think I can be in the same group as Shiitake... Chika: *Giggle* We're just kidding. You: Ah, ha, ha! Sorry, Riko. Did you take us seriously? Chika: I apologize! *Giggle* Aqours only works with the nine members we currently have. Sorry, Shiitake. Shiitake: Woof? You: Actually, Chika, Shiitake may look like lazying about all the time, but who knows when you're not looking? Chika: Huh? I mean, I'm not watching Shiitake 24-7, but I think Shiitake is like that all the time. You: Heh, heh. heh. Imagine, a whole world of Shiitake adventures that we don't know about. What an interesting thought! Chika: There's no way, You! *Giggle* Riko: And that should do it. You, how does this costume look? You: Wow, you work fast! It's perfect. Thanks a million! You've got skilled, nimble fingers, Riko! Riko: You think so? Chika: *Groan* I'm nowhere near done! I'm sorry. I wish I could do this quicker. You: Ah, ha, ha. You don't have any idea how much you're helping me out, do you, Chika? Chika: *Giggle* Well, I'm happy to hear you say that. You: Have faith in me! We've got plenty of time today, so there's no need to rush. Riko: On days off, we can take our time and make sure we do a thorough job, whether we're making costumes or writing lyrics. Plus, we get to talk with each other! Chika: You're right. Today, let's cut, sew, and make a whole load of costumes! Together: Yeah! Shiitake: ....................... Shiitake: Woof.

Ruby: *Giggle* These cookie puffs are so tasty. Yoshiko: Ruby, Zuramaru! We're not here to sit around eating cake. We're supposed to be discussing our next fallen angel movie! Hanamaru: You can't plan on an empty stomach. A few sweets will fuel some sweet idea. Ruby: I'll do my Rubesty to eat lots of treats and come up with lots of great ideas. Yoshiko: Om, nom, nom... You say that, but you're really just looking for excuses to eat cake. Hanamaru: *Giggle* Are we that obvious? Yoshiko: I like cake as much as the next person, but we need ideas! Ruby, Hanamaru: All right! Yoshiko: (Wow... This fruit tart is so delicious♡) Hanamaru: A fallen angel movie... Yoshiko what does it even mean for an angel to fall? I really want to know, zura. Yoshiko: Eep. Ruby: Hey, hey, Yoshiko! Do you think we can fall from grace like you? Yoshiko: Huh? W-Well... If you fine the courage to follow me all the way down to Hell, then yes. Hanamaru: Then what if we do a big, extravagant ritual? Something that will burn the image of the fallen angel Yoshiko into everyone's minds, zura! Yoshiko: It's the fallen angel Yohane, not Yoshiko! Yoshiko: (It's true that something with a strong impact would improve the charisma projected by fallen angels...) Yoshiko: We need a movie with the same impact as the roaring flames of purgatory. Ruby: Wow! A hot movie that burns like fire. That sounds awesome, Yoshiko! Yoshiko: I know, right? And while we're filming, I'll summon you as one of my little demons, Ruby. Ruby: Yay! I get to be in the fallen angel movie? Yoshiko: You bet. In fact, I was going to ask both of you to play roles for me. Hanamaru: *Giggle* This sounds like a blast, zura. Shiitake: Woof! Wataame: Yap-yap! Hanamaru: Wataame, what's wrong? Are you worried about something outside the store? Ruby: Something wrong, Hanamaru? Hanamaru: Yeah. Wataame's reacting to someone, or something, outside the store. Yoshiko: Ruby, are you paying attention? I'm about to explain the next part of the demonic summoning ritual. Ruby: Right! Hanamaru: Huh? Isn't that... Hanamaru: Shiitake! Did you come to see Wataame? Shiitake: Woof. Hanamaru: There aren't any other customers beside the three of us... Do you want me to ask the owner if you can come inside? Shiitake: Woof! Ruby: Okay, Yoshiko. There's just one part of this fallen angel movie that I'm worried about. Yoshiko: What's that? Ruby: You said something about the flames of purgatory? Dia said you're not supposed to play with fire. It's dangerous. Yoshiko: Huh?! Uhh, okay... So we'll just stick with summoning a demon, then? Ruby: Eek! We're summoning something frightening? But I'll be scared if a demon comes out... Yoshiko: *Giggle* You'll never make it as one of my little demons with that attitude, Ruby. Yoshiko: Once you're a fallen angel of my caliber, you'll be summoning demons into this world like it's nothing! Come forth, level one million demon! ???: *Howl* Ruff, ruff! Woof! Yoshiko, Ruby: EEEEEEEEEK! Shiitake: Woof! Yoshiko: Eek, eek! Save me! Shiitake: Woof! Hanamaru: Ruby, Yoshiko, calm down, zura! Shiitake just came by to play. Yoshiko: Eek! He's been summoned! Shiitake has been summoned! Yoshiko: W-Wait, Shiitake? As in, Chika's dog, Shiitake? Ruby: That was so scary... It was just Shiitake. Ruby: Shiitake, Are you here to see Wataame? Wataame: Yap! Yapp! Shiitake: Woof. Yoshiko: Hey, Ruby, aren't you scared of dogs? You're talking to Shiitake like it's nothing. Ruby: Yeah! I am kinda scared of dogs, but Shiitake doesn't bark at me in a scary way, so I'm okay. Yoshiko: Oh, I see. Yoshiko: (Silly Yohane. I freaked out because I thought I really summoned a demon!) Hanamaru: Shiitake. We're all glad you came to see us, but you mustn't startle people like that, zura. Shiitake: *Whimper* Yoshiko: Heh... Heh, heh, heh. Hanamaru: Yoshiko, what is it, zura? Yoshiko: This thrilling, heart-ponding feeling... This is what it should feel like to fall from grace! This is exactly what our fallen angel movie's lacking! Ruby, Hanamaru: Huh?! Yoshiko: I've got a new direction for us. Thank you, little demon Shiitake! Shiitake: Woof? Yoshiko: Zuramaru! Ruby! Shiitake! Everyone line up and follow Yohane. It's time to start filming! Ruby, Hanamaru: Yoshiko, wait! Shiitake: Woof? Yoshiko: Our next movie will feature Shiitake as a special guest! Hey, where did you go? Ruby: Huh? Shiitake is gone? Strange, was just here a second ago. Hanamaru: Maybe he went home to Chika?

Story 3

Chika: Hey, when we're done working on the costumes, let's make matching accessories! Riko: *Giggle* We've made a lot of progress, but we still have to apply the final touches, Chika. Chika: Hee, hee. I thought if we agreed to make matching accessories, it'd motivate me down the home stretch. You: I'm in! We can brainstorm ideas for the accessories while we finish the costumes. You: Oh, but... Riko: But what? You: It's been so long since we played with Shiitake that I thought we could do that after we finished. Chika: Oh, yeah! You said you wanted to play earlier this morning, didn't you? No problem. Once we're done, I'll call Shiitake over! You: Yay! Okay let's knock out these costumes and our accessories! Chika: Yeah! Riko: S-So, Shiitake's coming back once we're done, huh... *Gulp* Mari: Dia, Kana, do your best! Dia: I'm serving, Kanan! Kanan: Okay! Bring it! Dia: Hah! Mari: *Chuckle* You're so worked up over this beach volleyball game. Mari: This is what being a high school girl is all about. Just watching you two is getting me fired up! Kanan: You're a high school girl, too, Mari! Dia: Mari, you're up next against the winner! Mari: Ahh, what a gorgeous day. I'm surrounded by my dearest friends and a beautiful sea. I bet I'm the happiest girl in the whole wide world. Mari: This must be what it's like to be blanketed in pure joy. Mari: *Yawn* *Breathe* *Breathe* Dia: Mari, we're going down to the beach hut for drinks. Do you want to come with us? Dia: Mari? Hello? Kanan: Shh! She's asleep. Dia: Oh, well... *Chuckle* I can't imagine a more fitting spot for Mari to rest than under a beach umbrella. We'll just have to pick out her drink for her. Kanan: Yup! Mari: Hmm? Oops, did I nod off? Mari: Kanan? Dia? Mari: Huh? Kanan? Dia? Where are you? Mari: Wait... Are you hiding so you can jump out and surprise me? Mari: Are you under the bench? Mari: Or is it something a little more active, like balancing on top of my parasol? Mari: Or did you bury yourselves in the sand? Maybe you're right beneath my feet! Mari: KANAN! DIA! Here I am! Shiitake: *Pant* *Pant* Mari: What the-! Shiitake?! Shiitake: Woof! Mari: Shiitake! Did you come to help me find Kanan and Dia? Shiitake: Woof? Mari: No, that's silly. Where do you think they're hiding? Shiitake: Woof. Mari: Surely they wouldn't have ditched me... right? Mari: The Uchiura beach is always very shiny, but I've got a bit of not-so-shiny feeling right now. Shiitake: *Whine* Mari: *Gasp* Don't tell me they got so into burying themselves in the sand that they dug too deep and got swallowed up! Shiitake: Woof! Woof! Mari: Eek! Shiitake, where're you dragging me? Shiitake: Woof! Mari: Hey, do you know where they are? Good dog, Shiitake! Lead the way! Mari: This way? They're this way? Okay, I'm coming. Dia! Kanan! Shiitake: Woof! Woof! Kanan: Oh, what's Shiitake doing here? Dia: Kanan, Mari's right behind Shiitake, and she's running towards us at full speed! Mari: KANAN! DIA! Mari: Oh, how I missed you two... Dia: Eek! M-Mari, you're squashing me... Kanan: I'm sorry. You must've gotten worried when you woke up and we weren't there. Mari: I sure was! You disappeared without so much as a word. I was dumbfounded! Mari: If Shiitake hadn't come by, we might never have seen each other again! Dia: N-Never? We just went out to buy drinks! Kanan: Mari, you're so dramatic. *Chuckle* Mari: I'm just so happy we've been reunited. And I owe it all to you, Shiitake. Thank you! Mari: Huh? Shiitake? Dia: Shiitake was here just a moment ago. I wonder where that dog went. Kanan: Maybe Shiitake went back home after seeing that we met up again? Mari: I owe Shiitake a huge debt. I have to stop by and show my thanks.

You: I'm thinking of coordinating the costumes with these mini-shoulder bags. What do you think? Riko: How cute! Chika: I love it! I think we're gonna have to ask you to make them a reality, You. You: *Giggle* Aww, you guys are too kind. Oh! I guess we might as well make enough for all nine of us. Chika: Ooh! Go for it! Chika: Huh? Someone's at the door. Coming! Hanamaru: Hello! Oh, Riko and You are here, too? Riko: Yup! We're working on the costumes. What brings you all to Chika's? Yoshiko: We came to see Chika... Well, to be honest, we're here for Shiitake! Ruby: We thought we could all have a snack together. I even brought a strawberry tart! Chika: You came to see... Shiitake? Why? Chika: Whoa, really?! Hanamaru: Shiitake really added something special to Yoshiko's fallen angel movie, zura. Yoshiko: Heh, heh, heh. My movie needed a little extra spice, and Shiitake showed me exactly where to find it. Ruby: With that kind of tension, you;re sure to attract a huge wave of new little demons! Riko: Shiitake added spice to a fallen angel movie? What on earth do you mean? You: You're saying Shiitake came to your rescue while we were sitting here working on costumes? Yoshiko: In this movie, I decided to have Yohane suddenly appear in the most unexpected of places. I got the idea from Shiitake! Hanamaru: I don't quite understand how it happened, but Shiitake was definitely the inspiration. You: Wait, are you telling me that Shiitake went all the way from here to where you guys were hanging out in Shougetsu? Chika: No way! I didn't even notice. Chika: Huh? More visitors? Mari: Shiitake! I brought you some special, extra-delicious dog food! Dia: Oh, Yoshiko, Ruby, and Hanamaru are here, too. Kanan: But where's the dog of the hour? Chika! Where's Shiitake at? Chika: Huh?! Kanan, not you guys, too?! Mari: Shiitake came to our rescue today. If it hadn't been for that dog, I might never have seen Kanan and Dia again for the rest of my life. You: What?! What happened? Are you three okay? Dia: For the rest of her life is exaggerating... but Shiitake did save the day for you, Right, Mari? Kanan: Mari got lost, and Shiitake led her back to us. Mari: No, no! Dia and you were the ones who were lost, Kanan! Chika: Wait, what? I thought you were hanging out down at the beach? Shiitake, you went all the way out there?! Riko: *Giggle* Shiitake was everyone's hero today, it seems. Chika: Shiitake... You were off rescuing people, and we were sitting here none the wiser. You: Looks like Shiitake really did go off on an adventure without any of the owners knowing! Chika: Shiitake! Everyone's here to see you! Yoshiko: Shiitake, you showed me how to spice up my fallen angel movie. You're no ordinary pet... No, you're a little demon in the form of a dog! Yoshiko: Heh, heh, heh. And you worked very hard today, to boot. I'm so going to tell you who's a good dog! Shiitake: *Snore* *Snore* Yoshiko: Shiitake's sleeping! Hanamaru: Shiitake looks sound asleep, zura. Riko: Mito just fed Shiitake. Maybe eating dinner made Shiitake sleepy? Mari: *Chuckle* I guess my special dog food will have to wait until tomorrow? Shiitake: *Snore* *Snore* Kanan: Aww, Shiitake's drooling. *Chuckle* Ruby: What do you think Shiitake's dreaming about? All the big adventures today? Dia: I wouldn't be surprised. Shiitake played a big part in a lot of major events today. Mari: I'm so glad you were there for me today, Shiitake. Thanks a million. Shiitake: *Snore* *Snore* Chika: Hey! Since everyone's here, why don't you all stay for dinner? Mari: Oh, that's be wonderful! It'll be like a special party to celebrate the heroic deed of Shiitake, the miracle dog!
