Hanayo: Yeah! Honoka: Are you ready to rock the house?! Rin: Yeah! Honoka: Do you wanna be school idols?! Maki: We already are, and have been for some time. That makes no sense. Honoka: Do you wanna be in the School Idol Festival?! Nozomi: Yeah! Kotori: You're very excited today, Honoka. Honoka: Of course! The School Idol Festival's coming up! The date has been set and everything! Umi: We'll get to stand on that stage again. Nico: I still remember how happy everyone in the audience looked that day. Eli: We don't have much time to prepare, but I really want to have new costumes and a new song ready when we take the stage. What does everyone think? Kotori: I'm with you! I'll do my best to put together new outfits! Maki: A new song... I need to think of something worthy of a School Idol Festival. Rin: New clothes, a new song. I can't wait! Work hard for us, Maki! Nozomi: You don't have to tell her. Maki always give 110%. We're counting on you! Maki: Please don't tease me... But I will do my best. Honoka: The School Idol Festival is gonna be awesome. Kotori: Yes! I need to brainstorm with Nozomi and the others about the new costumes. Umi: And I'll work on lyrics that will really speak to the audience's hearts. Honoka: Yeah, yeah! Kotori, Umi, good luck! Umi: Honoka... Don't say that like you're not going to be involved. Honoka: But I can't sew and I do terrible in language arts. Cheering on everyone else is the job I'm best at! Umi: I see. Well, while I'm at it, I may as well ask for your opinion anyway. Umi: What do you feel when you're singing onstage? Honoka: Huh?! The way you ask it makes it feel like I'm in class for some reason. Umi: No need to overthink it. You're just helping me come up with lyrics. Kotori: How do you feel when you're singing, Honoka? Does it feel good? Honoka: Hmm, let me think... It does feel nice to belt out a song at the top of my lungs. Honoka: And let's see... I guess I sometimes think I want everyone to really hear the song we're singing. Umi: That makes sense. If you're going to sing, you want the audience to really hear the song loud and clear. Honoka: It's not just them hearing my voice... I want them to, like, feel what I feel when I sing. Kotori: Maki composes the music and Umi writes the songs for µ's, and then we all sing them... There are all kinds of feeling woven into those songs. Honoka: Yeah! And I want the people listening to feel it too! It'd be so wonderful if everyone walked away feeling the same way we do! Kotori: So how do you communicate such a big bundle of emotions? Umi: Good question. I would say that the sharper the performance, the clearer the message comes across. Kotori: The more effort we put into the music, the lyrics, and the costumes, the happier the fans will be! Honoka: I wish there was a way we could call out each and every person who's there to support µ's by name, and go out and sing right in front of them! Honoka: But there are always so many people, we'd collapse from exhaustion if we tried to perform for all of them individually. Kotori: *Laughs* I understand how you feel, but I'm afraid you're right on the money. Umi: Honoka, I think I have a plan. Honoka: Huh? What? Umi: Why don't YOU try writing the lyrics for our school idol festival song? Honoka: Me?! |

Umi: Don't sell yourself short. Honoka: This show is crazy important. We need someone who actually knows about writing lyrics to handle this. Umi: You can't give up before you even start! You're a human being like me and you're perfectly capable of reading and writing. Aren't you? Kotori: U-Umi, that was a little rude... Honoka: I don't want to write the lyrics. I just want them to express how I feel inside. Umi: That's exactly why you should be the one to pen them. Umi: Pouring your heart and soul into words, and turning those words into lyrics. That's how you'll make your feelings come across clearly and convincingly. Honoka: Put my heart and soul into the lyrics... Hmm... Kotori: Umi's lyrics certainly speak for all of us, but I'll bet your lyrics will be jam-packed full of your own feelings, Honoka! Honoka: But I'm scared they'll sound weird. Umi: Since when are you afraid of failure? Kotori: Why don't you start simple? Take whatever words you think of, or want to say, and put them on paper. Umi: Indeed. If you really can't make any progress, I'll help you. Honoka: Okay. I'll give it a shot. Kotori: You can do it, Honoka! Rin: That's so cool, Honoka! You're gonna write the lyrics for our School Idol Festival song! Honoka: It's not cool! I haven't even written one word yet! Hanayo: What kind of song are you planning to write? Honoka: Plan?! I... There's no... I'm gonna start thinking about it now. Maki: I'm going to start coming up with ideas for the music. Do you want to brainstorm with me, Honoka? Honoka: Yeah! I actually wanna talk with everyone about it. Hanayo: If I remember right, at the last festival our song was about trying to cheer people on, right? Rin: I remember that! Maki said it was about helping people who're out there trying their best. Maki: D-Did I? Whatever, let's move on from what I may or may not have said. Hanayo: If we keep that theme, the song might sound too similar. Should we try a different direction? Honoka: Let's think... What would make a good theme? Rin: A song about eating ramen, or playing at the beach... Oh, what about a superhero squadron song?! Maki: Those are all a bit TOO different. Rin: You think? What about you, Hanayo? What kind of theme would you like? Hanayo: Umm... Lo... Maki: Lo? Hanayo: Lo... lo... Honoka: La, la? Hanayo, are you about to start singing now? Rin: I know! She wants to sing about lo mein! Hanayo: A... love song. Honoka: Hmm? Say that again? Hanayo: What... what about a... love song? Honoka: A love song?! Hanayo: School idols all across the country sing love songs. They're light and refreshing, yet painful and tragic at the same time. I love them! *Giggle* Honoka: I gotcha. Yeah, maybe a love song's the way to go! Maki: I'm not opposed to the idea, but do you think you can write a love song, Honoka? Honoka: Huh? Hanayo: Maybe it'll turn out to be a love song from Honoka to the person she loves. Rin: Ooh! Honoka, do you have a crush on someone? This is the first I've heard! Honoka: Hwhaaat?! A crush? I have a crush?! Rin: Well, a love song is about love, isn't it? As in the romantic kind? Honoka: C'mon, Umi! Write down the name of the person you love! Umi: I don't want to. Honoka: Write it! Umi: Honoka, you are shameless! Honoka: Ahh! Come back, Umi! Kotori: Oh, there goes Umi... How are the lyrics coming along, Honoka? Honoka: Well, after I talked with Hanayo, I got as far as deciding that I'm gonna write a love song! But... Honoka: Trying to figure out what love and crushes and all that mean is really making my head spin. Kotori: I see. Honoka: Kotori, are you in love with anyone? Kotori: Hmm... Well, I love you and Umi, for starters. Honoka: Wait... I thought love songs were supposed to be about people you loved, like, romantically. It's okay to just sing about people you love for whatever reason? Kotori: Yeah! I don't see the need to overthink it. Umi: *Stare* Honoka: Ah, Umi! Umi: Are you talking about songwriting? Honoka: Of course I am! But when I tried to ask you to help write the lyrics, you ran off on me! Umi: Of course I did! You ran up and asked me to write the name of the person I love. It certainly didn't seem like a songwriting discussion! Eli: That's why you've been asking everyone the same question. Nico: I may be an expert on love, but I prefer you didn't chase me all over. Honoka: I'm sorry. Nozomi: Aww, don't be like that! It's all to help Honoka write her song for the School Idol Festival! Rin: Gimme that notepad, I'll write down everyone I love! Hanayo... and... Hanayo: R-Rin, you're embarrasing me. Rin: I am? Okay then, I'll write my name next to yours and draw a heart around them. Maki: This is so silly. You're not a grade-schooler anymore. Stop this foolishness. Rin: Oh Maki, there's no need to be jealous. Maki: I'm not jealous!!! Rin: Relax Maki, I'll write your name just above the heart. Maki: If you're going to bother, you should put me inside the heart! Nozomi: If you wanted your name in the heart too, you should have just asked. Rin: I'd have done it! Nico: Enough with the names inside hearts. Can we please get back to helping Honoka think of lyrics? Nozomi: Maybe you shouldn't worry about who likes who. Nozomi: What if you focus on the feeling you get when you think about how you love someone, or how fun it is having people you love in your life? Rin: I get it. Plus, you can't exactly put down someone's name in the lyrics. Honoka: How it feels when you think about loving someone, huh? Eli: Like getting motivated to work hard when they need you? Honoka: I see. Like how if µ's needed me to, I'd be extra motivated to study hard and not fail? Eli: That's the bare minimum a student should aim for. Hanayo: Love... Maki: What's wrong, Hanayo? Hanayo: Just thinking why listening to love songs make my chest feel all tight. Hanayo: Some are about unrequited love, lost loves, even true love. They're all so wonderfully diverse. Nozomi: No matter how it ends, you can't help but think that people in love are really cute, huh? Maki: No matter how it ends up? I'd think you'd at least want to avoid lost love. Nozomi: Unrequited love's just fine in its own way. Eli: I agree. Just the fact that you feel love for someone is enough in and of itself. Eli: But you also want to believe that others feel the same way about you, right? Nico: Obviously, I mean, I give my love to the fans, but I want just as much love back from them. Nozomi: It's not that often you get the chance to tell someone you love them. Hanayo: Yes. Even if you think it all the time, you don't say it with words nearly as often. Honoka: I see... Kotori: Honoka's working hard on her lyrics, isn't she? Umi: Yes. I'm certain she'll write us a wonderful song. Umi: And I should thank you for working so hard on the costumes. You did a wonderful job. Kotori: I couldn't have done it without your help, Umi! It's been a long time since we worked on costumes together. Umi: Maybe it's not a bad idea to trade jobs occasionally. Kotori: I bet Honoka's love song will be really cute. I can't wait for her to finish! Umi: What... What is it's about a lost love? Kotori: Huh? I... I think it'll be all right. Honoka: And... done! Honoka: Kotori, Umi, let's head to the club room! Kotori: Okay. Umi: Right! Eli: You finished the lyrics! Congratulations, Honoka. Nozomi: You really worked your tail off. I've been on pins and needles wondering how it turned out! Honoka: When we first settled on a love song, I thought about what it might feel like to tell someone I was in love with how I felt. Honoka: Or what it'd be like if I was dating someone... I thought about all kinds of stuff. Honoka: And I came up with nothing. Rin: Nothing? Honoka: I tried imagining what it'd be like to have a significant other, but I couldn't even figure out what kind of person they'd be. Honoka: So I just thought about the people and the things I love personally. Kotori: Honoka, you've got someone you love?! Honoka: Yeah! I love everyone in µ's. Honoka: I love our music, and I love our performances! Nico: Of course you do! We all feel the same way! Honoka: I love the people who come out to support us... Honoka: I love A-RISE. Eli: I know when we read them, I said they were very Honoka-ish... Eli: ...but they're not just about your feelings anymore. We all love our fans, and we want to tell them that.
