| Kotori: I'm planning on going to cheer for Umi during her archery practice this Saturday. Care to come with, Honoka?
Honoka: Yeah! Count me in. Kotori: Keep it a secret from Umi for now, okay? ???: Mew. Kotori: Mew? Honoka: What was… ???: Meow. Kotori: That sound… Was that… ???: Meow! Kotori: Awwwwwww! Kotori: Oh my goodness, how cute! Honoka: What? What is it? Kotori: Honoka, over there! Look under that shrub! Kitten: Mew… Honoka: Whoa, a kitty cat! Kotori: Are you okay, kitty? Did you lose your mommy? Is she around here somewhere? Kitten: *Purr* Honoka: Hey, Kotori, do you think it’d be okay if I held it? I wanna give it a hug! Kotori: Absolutely not! Honoka: Wh-Why? Kotori: I’ve heard that if you touch a kitten, your scent will rub off on it, and its mother won’t think of it as its own anymore. So please, don’t touch it! Honoka: I see. So we can’t even pet it, huh? Kitten: Meow! Honoka: *Giggle* It’s so cute, though! Kotori: We should tell everyone about this little cutie. Honoka: Yeah! Kitten: *Purr* Nozomi: Aww! Kitten: …Mew? Rin: Meoooow! Umi: H-How precious! Maki: Oh, a fluffy little white kitten. She’s so cute. Eli: So this is the stray cat who got separated from her mother? Kitten: Meow… Nico: What is she doesn’t come back? I don’t want the poor thing to be all alone. Hanayo: Well, it’s not like she’s a newborn kitten. I’m sure her mom has raised her properly up until now. Nico: But she’s not here now. She wouldn’t forget about her own kitten, right? Rin: Hopefully she realizes she’s one kitty short, and comes back real soon. Kotori: It must be lonely, getting separated from your mom so suddenly. Nozomi: Yeah… Hopefully she doesn’t get sick or anything before her mom comes back. Hanayo: It’s be best if she could find food on her own, but sadly, most kittens who get separated from their mothers at this stage end up dying. Rin: ………………………… Umi: Dying...? Umi: Dying?! Hanayo: She might come back any minute, so there's no need to panic about the worst-case scenario just yet. Honoka: I don't wanna think about what might happen if she never comes back. Umi: I'm going to the library! I'll find whatever books they have about the proper way to raise cats. Rin: Wait, Umi! No one said we're gonna raise it ourselves. Umi: But Rin, if we just leave her, she'll... Rin: Her mom's probably still nearby somewhere. We shouldn't take her in just yet. Hanayo: I agree with Rin. She's not sickly or weak. It'd be better if we waited for the mother to return. Maki: I must say I'm surprised. I thought the two of you would start lobbying to take it home right away. Rin: If we adopt her, we'll be her caretakers the rest of her life. Plus, we'd be taking a kitten away from its mom. Rin: A mom who, by the way, might be out searching for her as we speak? We shouldn't snatch her up, Umi. Umi: *Shock* Umi: You're right, Rin. I'm getting ahead of myself. Eli: I guess there's nothing we can do to help right now... It's still frustrating, though. Rin: We can't help, but we can at least watch over her! Hanayo: That's right, Rin! Kotori: Oh, yes! We can watch over her until her mom comes to pick her up. |

Rin: Tee-hee. Honoka: Such a cute little kitty. Kitten: Mew? Kotori: Just looking at her makes me smile. Rin: Cats bring peace to the world. Honoka: Her mom didn't show up again today. Kitten: Meoooow. Umi: It'll be tough for such a tiny creature to survive all on its own. Nico: You said it. Poor thing's enduring unimaginable sadness, gritting its teeth, and clawing its way through life. Nozomi: Whoa, may be not THAT tough? Anyways, I hope the mom comes along soon. Kotori: It's gonna rain today... Poor cat is going to be cold. Maki: Achoo! *Sniff* Will she be okay? Nico: There's a little bit of roof here, but it's gonna be cold, and it'll probably still get soaking wet. Nozomi: Actually, I've been thinking. Couldn't we let her live in the alpaca stables? Alpaca M: Haaw. Alpaca F: Haaaaaaaaw. Kitten: Meow... Alpaca F: Pthhbbt- Kitten: Mew! Eli: Hmm... Umi: There may be a bit too much of a size difference. Nozomi: Now that you mention it... Honoka: I'm gonna run out to the courtyard for a minute. Rin: Wait for me! Nozomi: Honoka! Rin! Rin: Hmm? Nozomi: I went out and bought some cat food. Wanna go pick it up? Honoka: I do! I wanna go... but I'll have to pass for now. Rin: C'mon, Honoka! Eli: Nozomi, when did you buy cat foo? Nozomi: Heh... It was yesterday. I couldn't stand it any longer, so Umi and I went out and bought it together. Eli: Goodness gracious... Everyone's got this cat on their minds, huh? Nozomi: Who could abandon such a cute little kitty? I wish we could keep it. Eli: Yeah... Eli: It's been a week since we found it... Kitten: *Purr* Rin: She sounds a little weak today. Maki: And she's losing weight... Nico: She's got nothing to eat. If her mom doesn't come back soon, she could... Umi: *Sniffle* We mustn't let the unthinkable happen. It'd be a tragedy. Eli: ........................... Kotori: What should we do...? Eli: That does it. I can't take it anymore. Rin: Huh? Eli: Everyone, I've made a decision! We're going to raise this cat ourselves! Honoka: Huh?! You mean it, Eli? Eli: I know it'd be best if her mother raised her, but if she keeps going downhill like this, she'll die. Rin: Are... Are you sure? Hanayo: Yeah... I think we should, too. It'd be too risky to wait for the mother any longer. Maki: What if the mother comes back after we've started caring for her? Hanayo: There's not telling how that will play out. When kittens and mothers are separated and reunited, whether or not they get along depends on their personalities. Nozomi: We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Right now, we've gotta make sure the kitten stays healthy. Honoka: Hanayo, what should we be doing to raise her right? Hanayo: To start, we just need to feed her a little food, and let her get used to being around us. Kotori: Okay. Nico: Wait! We're forgetting something very important! Umi: What's that? Nico: Her name! Maki: We haven't actually started caring for her yet. Aren't you jumping the gun? Nico: If we're all going to raise her together, we can't juts call her "Cat." That's way too impersonal. Nozomi: She definitely needs her own name. Rin: Kitty... is no good. Hmm... what should we name her? Kotori: How about Chouchou? Hanayo: Oh, that's adorable. I love it! Maki: It's actually French. It's a term of endearment, and it's also what they call scrunchies! I think we've got our name. Kotori: Wow, really? You know everything, Maki. Honoka: Okay then, Chouchou it is! Eli: *Chuckle* Welcome to the group, Chouchou! Chouchou: ...Meow? |

Maki: If you keep staring like that, she'll feel your eyes on her and won't go to it. Nico: Really? Aww, Chouchou's bashful. Maki: I think she's just suspicious of you... Hanayo: Let's give her some time. We'll come back and check in on her later. Rin: Honoka! Kotori! Did Chouchou get into her bed? Kotori: Yup. Take a look. Rin: That's great! It's such a nice, fluffy little bed. I hope she likes it. Maki: Since she's so small, she loses body heat very easily. This will keep her warm. Kotori: We're all about to head home, Rin. What're you gonna do? Maki: I figured I'd stay with Chouchou a little longer before I leave. Honoka: Gotcha. See you tomorrow, Rin and Maki! Chouchou: *Purr* Maki: Chouchou, you are just adorable. And you groom yourself so well! Rin: I wish I could stay here watching her forever. Rin: I know she's not adjusted to being around us yet, but it this keeps up, maybe we can officially adopt her. Are you assured she's in good hands now? Rin: I was just afraid we might regret it if we decided to take her in on a whim. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, and wondering when we'll have to say goodbye. I know it's pointless, but I can't help it. Rin: I understand. I think it's because you really like her. Maki: I... I wonder... RIn: It is! You're worried because you care about Chouchou. There's nothing wrong with that. Maki: ......................... Maki: Normally you can be a little... immature, Rin. I was actually taken aback to see you thinking so responsibly. Rin: Really? Maki: Really. To the point where I think you were being more responsible than me. But that's a good thing. Rin: I always find myself wanting to be like you, Maki. Cool, cute, and very grown-up. Even though there's no chance I'll ever turn out like you! Maki: Hee, hee. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, huh? Chouchou: ........................... Rin: Oh... | Eli: Everyone ready?
Nico: A-Okay! Umi: You can count on us! Hanayo: Let's all do our best to take care of Chouchou. Kotori: Chouchou! We brought you a real house. No more flimsy cardboard box! Nozomi: Ah, heh, heh. It's actually just a carrier crate we borrowed from a neighbor. Eli: She might get a bit frightened when we catch her to put her inside, but this way, she can live with us. Honoka: Okay, I'm gonna approach her. Maki: Good luck, Honoka! Rin: Don't freak out, Chouchou. I promise we're not scary. Chouchou: Mew... Honoka: H-Huh?! Kotori: Wow! Chouchou's going to Honoka! Rin: All right! She's gotten used to us because we've been feeding her! Umi: The first thing we should do is take her to a vet for a full checkup. Hanayo: Yes. I was thinking I'd keep her at my house for a while after we leave the vet's. Is that all right with everybody? Umi: I'm fine with that. We can't keep her at the club room where we can't look after her overnight and on our days off. Rin: And poor Chouchou's probably spent enough nights all by her lonesome. Chouchou: Meow! Eli: It'll be all right now, Chouchou. We'll all be your mommies. Chouchou: Meow? Honoka: *Giggle* We're starting a whole new life with Chouchou! Chouchou: Mew! Honoka: Hmm? Chouchou, where're you going? Maki: Uhh... Nico: Look, there's a cat over there. And it's looking straight at us. Nozomi: Hey... Maybe that's Chouchou's mom? Rin: Huh? Hanayo: Oh, you're right... Chouchou, your mom's come to pick you up. Kotori: I hope this will go smoothly... Chouchou must smell like humans after being around us so long. Mother cat: Rowr... Chouchou: Meow... Meow! Rin: Ch-Chouchou's... Honoka: Going to her mom... Umi: Chouchou's mom came back even though we've been handling her. Eli: Yes. I'm sure she was looking all over for her little kitten. Kotori: Yeah... Honoka: Thank goodness they found each other again! Hanayo: Yes! Nico: I'll miss her, but she's better off going with her mom. Maki: This is why I was against keeping her... Umi: Maki? Maki: I knew we'd have to say goodbye eventually. Rin: Maki... Nozomi: Are you saying you'd rather we never met her at all? Maki: *Gasp* Maki: N-No... Umi: Saying goodbye is never easy. It can be sad, and painful. Umi: But we should be grateful for the time we got to spend with Chouchou, short as it may have been. Maki: Yeah... You're absolutely right, Umi. Nozomi: Mm-hmm! Do you think Chouchou's glad she met us, too? Maki: Yes. Maki: I'm sad... I'm so sad... But thank you, Chouchou. Rin: Good for you, Maki. There, there... Maki: Thank you too, Rin. Although I don't need the "There, there" part. Kotori: Chouchou, come back any time you like! Honoka: Chouchou, have a long, happy life with your mom! Mother cat: Reowr. Chouchou: Meooow, meow!
